KING CITY — Four King City High pitchers combined their efforts for a 13-0 shutout victory over the Marina Mariners last Tuesday in King City. Jose Arreola started the game on the mound earned the pitching win, finishing with six strikeouts.

Carson Caulk, Brian Lopez and John Serrano came in to pitch an inning apiece for the Mustangs. The game was the only contest of the week for King City as the scheduled game with Marina for last Friday will be played on Thursday, April 19.

“We are playing good baseball and pitching well right now,” said King City head coach Lorenzo Espino. “I was pleased that in the game with Marina Jose Arreola did not give up a hit when he was in the ball game.”

Clay Barbree excelled at the plate with single and a triple that produced three runs batted in. Brian Lopez added a double, Tommy Stephens had two hits, and David Ortiz hit a single.

King City improved to 7-2 in the Mission Trail Athletic League and 10-5 overall. The Mustangs hosted the Greenfield Bruins yesterday afternoon and travel to Greenfield tomorrow to complete the two-game home and away series.
