KING CITY — King City Mayor Mike LeBarre was elected July 9 as chairman of the Monterey-Salinas Transit (MST) Board of Directors.

City of Monterey Councilmember Dan Albert was elected to take over LeBarre’s current position as vice-chairman.

Outgoing Chairman and Salinas Councilmember Tony Barrera made the announcement at MST’s monthly Board of Directors meeting. He noted that votes for both positions had been unanimous.

“MST is focused on the community, on safety and improving the quality of life for all,” LeBarre said. “I am honored to represent such a great agency as MST.”

LeBarre served as vice-chairman since July 2016 and will now serve as chairman until July 2020.

“As vice-chair I learned a lot from Mr. Barrera, and as chair I will continue his leadership on meeting the needs of the people we serve,” LeBarre said.

Monterey-Salinas Transit District is governed by a 13-member Board of Directors made up of elected representatives from each of the 12 cities in Monterey County plus an additional representative from the Monterey County Board of Supervisors.

The MST Board of Directors appoints MST’s general manager, the role currently filled by Carl Sedoryk.
