KING CITY — King City Police Department (KCPD) responded to the report of a stabbing on May 2 at about 10 p.m. in the 200 block of Broadway Street.

On arrival, officers contacted the victim, a 40-year-old male, who reported that the suspect, 42-year-old Rene Correa of King City, had stabbed him in the upper torso near his shoulder. The victim was transported to Natividad Medical Center in Salinas, where he was listed in stable condition, police said.

Officers and detectives from KCPD served a search warrant at Correa’s residence in the morning hours of May 3, during which they located him and evidence. Correa was arrested and booked into Monterey County Jail on the charge of assault with a deadly weapon.
