KING CITY — On July 16, at about 12:15 p.m., officers from the King City Police Department received information from an anonymous source that a person was selling narcotics at the Silver Saddle Motel, 705 Broadway St., Room No. 110.

Officers contacted the renter of the room, identified as 34-year-old Lorenzo Velasquez of King City, who gave them permission to search the room. During the search, officers located an amount of methamphetamine packaged for sales along with scales in plain view.

Velasquez was taken into custody without incident. The scene was secured and the officers obtained a search warrant to continue the search for additional evidence.

During the subsequent search, a loaded 30-06 rifle, 2.4 ounces of methamphetamine packaged in individual packages for sale, 16 ounces of marijuana packaged in individual packages for sale, and about $280 in cash, and indicia indicating sales transactions were located.

Velasquez was booked at the Monterey County Jail on charges of possession of methamphetamine for sales and possession of a loaded firearm while in possession of narcotics for sales. Since the Silver Saddle Motel is located within 1,000 feet of King City High School, an additional charge of sales of narcotics within 1,000 feet of a school was added. Bail has been set at $50,000.
