King City educator named Monterey County Teacher of the Year

KING CITY — Monterey County Superintendent of Schools Deneen Guss recently surprised Annette Zambrano of Del Rey Elementary with a $500 check for receiving the Monterey County Teacher of the Year award.

Zambrano, who has taught for 19 years, is a reading intervention teacher with the King City Union School District.

She was recognized as this year’s Elementary School Teacher of the Year for her dedication to her students, classroom and school at large.

“Thank you for always going above and beyond to deliver quality education to our youth!” said the Monterey County Office of Education via social media on April 21.
