KING CITY — A recent DUI checkpoint in downtown King City resulted in one arrest and 20 citations.
The Aug. 27 checkpoint was held at Broadway and Canal streets from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m. During the course of the Saturday night checkpoint, a total of 404 vehicles were contacted.
According to King City Police Department, 20 drivers were issued citations for operating a vehicle while unlicensed or with a suspended/revoked license; one person was arrested for reckless driving; and six sets of field sobriety tests were conducted that resulted in no DUI arrests.
“DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes,” police said in a news release. “The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads.”
Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
