KING CITY — A few of the city’s finest residents will be honored Saturday evening during the King City Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture’s Annual Awards Dinner.
Among those being honored at the ceremony are Paulette Bumbalough as Citizen of the Year, Lynn’s Too as Business of the Year, and Ricky Humphreys as Friend of the Community.
Bumbalough, who was born and raised in Hawaii, worked for Hartnell College for 23 years and retired as dean of the King City campus after 10 years. She has served on numerous boards and committees in the region, and is currently the president of the South Monterey County Joint Union High School District Board of Directors.
Byron and Melanie Lynn, former owners of Lynn’s Too, will accept the award for the family business.
The gas station and store opened in 2000 at its current location, 1137 Broadway St., providing services to residents and travelers for the past 17 years. The Lynns sold the business last December.
Humphreys has volunteered countless hours to various organizations in the community over the years since graduating from King City High School in 2002. He has provided yard work for Sol Treasures, helped with plays for The Stage Hands and is an active member of the King City Rotary Club.
The March 10 event will be hosted inside the Orradre Building at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds, 625 Division St., in King City. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. with cocktails at 5 p.m., followed by dinner at 6 p.m., a live auction at 7 p.m. and the awards program at 8 p.m.
Chamber Manager Janet Bessemer said tickets are still available for the event. Tickets are $50 per person and can be bought at the King City Chamber Office, 200 Broadway St., or by calling 831-385-3814.
