KING CITY — A fire destroyed playground equipment at Del Rey Elementary School in King City late Monday afternoon.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze within minutes of responding to the school at 502 King St. No one was injured in the fire, the cause of which is under investigation.

According to school staff on scene, the burned play structure was fairly new, having been installed at the school last fall.

This is a developing story.
