KING CITY ā€” On Jan. 22, the victim of a sexual assault reported being attacked by Christopher Rios of the King City area, according to the Monterey County Sheriffā€™s Office.

Deputies contacted the victim, who had many physical injuries, and after interviews and evidence collection, MCSO detectives determined they had probable cause to arrest Rios.

ā€œWith the assistance of the Monterey County Probation Department, detectives were able to locate Rios and place him under arrest,ā€ stated MCSO in a news release. ā€œRios was on parole and was on probation for other crimes as he had an extensive criminal history.ā€

Rios was booked in county jail for the following crimes: kidnapping, rape, sodomy, false imprisonment and oral copulation by means of force or violence.

ā€œAt the time of arrest, Rios was being investigated for similar crimes with other victims and there is a strong possibility there may be more victims that have not come forward to report their assaults,ā€ stated MCSO.

Any member of the community with information about this investigation is encouraged to contact Detective Jesse Reyes at 831-755-3805 or Detective Sgt. Nicholas Kennedy at 831-755-3773.
