KING CITY — The congregation of First Baptist Church made last Saturday a special night for Pastor Ken Reese and his wife Patty.

While Patty was in on the surprise dinner for the 10th anniversary of Ken’s service to the church as pastor, he was taken by surprise.

Much of the congregation was able to arrive before Ken, and time was spent writing notes of appreciation and affirmation.

The Reeses have been in ministry for many years. Ken started as a Minister of Youth in St. Louis, Mo., during college, then a Minister of Children during seminary before becoming the pastor of his first church in Kansas City, Mo., in 1985.

The couple arrived in California in 2005, with Ken becoming pastor of First Baptist in 2012.

The Dec. 3 evening meal was catered and included an Italian meal with cakes and fruit kabobs as table decorations.
