BRADLEY — Chevron has recently donated funding to the newly proposed Bradley Library Branch, which will be a part of the Monterey County Free Libraries system.

The donated funds, totaling $27,500, will provide enrichment opportunities in the areas of science, engineering and math, as well as new technology to the students of the Bradley Union School District.

“We are thankful to Chevron for their generous donation,” said Superintendent/Principal Josh Van Norman. “These funds will allow the children of the Bradley Union School District to engage in science, math and engineering opportunities, along with being provided new technology, all of which will take place and be used in the newly proposed Bradley Library. These opportunities afforded by the generous donation from Chevron will continue our district’s commitment of helping our students develop their ‘Pathway to the Future.’”

The proposed library will be built on land that was recently donated to the County of Monterey by the Bradley Union School District and the Orradre Family. The newly proposed library will be complete with a Community Room, in addition to outdoor seating and tables and Electric Vehicle (EV) charging.

The library will also serve as a Community Resiliency Center in the event of an emergency.

“At Chevron, we strive to empower people to improve their lives, achieve their aspirations and meet their full potential,” said Robin Woodward, public affairs advisor, Chevron Central California. “We believe in investing in STEM education and supporting innovative programs that position the next generation of problem solvers to tackle the complex challenges of the future.”

The newly proposed Bradley Library Branch is scheduled to break ground in June 2025.
