SOLEDAD — The young string students of Youth Music Monterey County’s South County Strings program will participate in a workshop presented by the regarded Catalyst String Quartet on Friday, April 7.

The quartet members are from New York City and are represented by the Sphinx Organization, which aims to promote diversity in the arts.

The quartet is touring California and has offered to work with the South County string students in Soledad.

Students will receive lessons and coaching from the quartet members and enjoy a dinner with the musicians hosted by YMMC.

At 5:30 p.m., the general public will be admitted to hear the Catalyst String Quartet members perform at the Soledad YMCA, 560 Walker Drive. The concert is free and open to the public.
