KING CITY — King City Police Department is investigating a shooting early Wednesday morning that killed a 31-year-old local man.

At about 1:06 a.m. on March 31, officers responded to a report of gunshots fired in the area of 60 Broadway Circle. There, police found an adult male on the ground who had been shot multiple times.

The victim, who was identified as Miguel Angel Aviles, 31, of King City, died from his injuries.

“Our investigation revealed the victim was in the area of Broadway Circle and River Drive when he got into an altercation with a subject,” police said in a news release Thursday. “Evidence was collected at the scene as well as from the surrounding areas.”

Two photos of a potential witness to the crime have been released. Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the individual in the photos, which were captured using King City’s citywide camera system.

“Our video evidence leads us to believe the individual may be a witness and is not a party to the commission of the crime,” police said. “We would like to speak to this individual in an attempt to determine if he can provide additional information.”

Police are requesting anyone who may be able to identify the individual in the photos, or who may have driven through or been in the area of Broadway Circle and River Drive between the hours of 11:30 p.m. March 30 and 1:06 a.m. March 31, to contact the police department at 831-385-4848 or the anonymous WeTip line at 1-800-78-CRIME to discuss what they may have seen.
