Anthony “Tony” John Cognina was born August 14, 1946 to a farming family in Fremont, California. He got involved in farm work at the age of ten, driving tractors on his father’s farm.

The family moved several times, eventually purchasing a cattle ranch in King City, Calif. While residing in King City, Anthony met and then married his wife, Ellen Stephens in 1979.

Anthony and Ellen both loved to farm, so in 2001 they moved their family to property they purchased near Litchfield, Calif., where they developed then operated a hay ranch.

Tony lost his battle with cancer and passed away in a Reno hospital on January 13, 2018.  He is preceded in death by his father, Carmelo Cognina, mother Juliana Hipolito, and brother Alfred Cognina. He is survived by his wife Ellen Cognina, and sons Matthew and Brian Cognina.

Anthony was a devoted husband and father and will be deeply missed by family and friends.

Services were held Feb. 17, 2018, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Susanville, Calif.
