KING CITY — Donations poured in last week during the Goodwill Donation Drive hosted by the Community Food Pantry of King City, which earned $3,900 from the fundraiser to support its food distribution program for local residents in need.

Nearly four Goodwill trailers were filled with donations from South County residents, who brought everything from clothes and books to kitchenware and other household items to the Broadway Street parking lot at King City High School over the weekend of Nov. 11-12. About a dozen food pantry volunteers helped load the donated items into the trailers.

For every trailer filled, Goodwill donated $1,000 to the food pantry. According to Event Coordinator Peggy Keirn, the community’s donations filled 3.9 trailers, equating to $3,900 for the nonprofit.

“We’re really happy. It was a very successful drive,” Keirn said.

Community Food Pantry hosts the donation drive and fundraiser twice each year, once in the spring and the other in the fall. The next drive is scheduled for either late March or early April.
