KING CITY — King City’s Beautification Week is just around the corner and residents and businesses are urged to pick a project to beautify the town.
Beautification Week will run from June 24 through July 2 under the sponsorship of the King City Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture. It is an effort to improve the appearance of the business district and the entire town.
A variety of other events tie in with the promotion including:
• Extra garbage service from June 26 to 29 courtesy of Waste Management;
• City-wide Yard Sale on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 23, 24 and 25;
• King City Community Recycling Event on Saturday, July 1, sponsored by Salinas Valley Recycles, Waste Management and the City of King from 8 a.m. to noon at the King City High School Mildred Avenue parking lot. Capacity is Limited. Event will close when dumpsters are full; and
• Town-wide Litter Clean Up on Saturday, July 1, sponsored by King City in Bloom from 8 to 9:30 a.m. at the KCHS Mildred Avenue parking lot.
The idea for Beautification Week started 25 year ago as an effort to spruce up the town in preparation for the Fourth of July parade downtown and other holiday weekend festivities.
