MONTEREY COUNTY — Monterey County Government Center at 168 W. Alisal St. in downtown Salinas will reopen for normal business operations Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 8 a.m., the County Administrative Office announced.
The reopening follows several weeks of closure related to an extensive sewer line malfunction and subsequent cleanup, restoration and building safety checks.
All floors and departments operating at the Government Center will resume regular operations, including satellite Board of Supervisors offices and the Board Chambers, according to the County.
The Board of Supervisors meeting scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 22, will take place in the Board Chambers as normal.
Departments operating out of the Government Center include the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors, Assessor-Clerk-Recorder’s Office, Treasurer-Tax Collector’s Office, Public Defender’s Office, District 2 Supervisor Luis Alejo’s office, County Administrative Office, Human Resources, County Counsel and the Auditor-Controller’s Office.
The County Administrative Office expressed appreciation to those involved in restoring the building and to residents and customers affected by the closure.
“To all involved in the restoration of the Government Center, those impacted directly, and especially our residents and customers, a big thank you on behalf of the County Administrative Officer, Sonia M. De La Rosa,” the County said. “This was indeed an incredible team effort, and everyone’s efforts to get the building open, the hard work is greatly appreciated.”
