KING CITY — King City Young Farmers have donated $5,000 to help fund King City’s annual July 3 fireworks celebration, providing the final contribution needed to ensure this year’s show moves forward.

The donation was made to the King City Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture, which organizes the annual fireworks display. According to the King City Young Farmers, the contribution means proceeds from this year’s Chamber fireworks booth can go toward funding the 2027 celebration rather than covering this year’s remaining costs.

The Chamber’s fireworks booth is located in front of Pete’s Towing, 1011 Broadway St., and is open daily through July 4 from noon to 8 p.m.

The King City Young Farmers said the donation reflects the organization’s mission of supporting local nonprofits, youth agricultural programs and community events throughout South Monterey County.

“This was a no-brainer donation for the King City Young Farmers as the city continues to grow Fourth of July traditions,” the organization said in a statement. “With the fireworks show on July 3, and the Fourth of July Celebration at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds, it made sense for the Young Farmers to work together with the Chamber of Commerce on making the fireworks happen now, and in the future.”

The nonprofit organization raises thousands of dollars each year through community fundraisers, returning the proceeds to local youth organizations, scholarships, agricultural programs and community events.

“This is exactly why the King City Young Farmers hold our annual fundraisers,” the organization said. “The goal of the King City Young Farmers has always been to support local nonprofits, youth organizations and community events. None of this would be possible without the incredible support we receive from our community. Every dollar we raise is reinvested right back into the organizations and events that make King City and surrounding areas a great place to live.”

The organization credited local businesses, agricultural families, sponsors, volunteers and community members for supporting its fundraising efforts.

Following the fireworks celebration Friday night, the King City Young Farmers will host their annual Fourth of July BBQ Fundraiser from noon to 7 p.m. on Saturday at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds in King City. The event will feature barbecue rib meals, a cornhole tournament, food booths, local vendors, live entertainment and children’s activities, with proceeds supporting local youth programs, scholarships and community organizations.
