KING CITY — Hands That Help SoMoCo hosted its fourth successful fundraiser on Oct. 22 at the King City Grill, this time supporting King City resident Robin Borzini, who has been battling cancer for many years.

Borzini shared her journey at the event, and her resilience was met with heartfelt appreciation. According to Hands That Help SoMoCo, “Her journey has been long and overwhelming, so the show of this support has made a difference in her life, and she spoke with true emotion and expressed her thanks to all involved.”

The organization, which serves the community from Gonzales to Bradley, is a dedicated group of volunteers committed to helping those in need through organized fundraisers. They coordinate all aspects of each event, including securing venues, managing ticket sales and promoting on social media.

“As a 100% volunteer-driven organization, we operate without a budget,” explained Hands That Help SoMoCo. “All proceeds from meal ticket sales go directly to the hosting restaurant, while 100% of donations are given to the recipient that same evening.”

The October fundraiser’s success was driven by donations, raffle gifts, desserts and online auction items provided by supporters and volunteers. The King City Grill and its staff also played a crucial role, dedicating their time and effort to the cause.

The organization emphasized its core mission: “to bring our community together to support those in need.”

They also shared guidelines for nominating recipients, noting that “eligible recipients of Hands That Help SoMoCo contributions are someone in our community who is going through a time of irreplaceable loss or who has been through a period of irreplaceable loss within the last 12 months.”

The organization added, “Hands That Help SoMoCo defines irreplaceable loss as a loss that cannot be recorded. Something that alters your life whereas life as you knew it will never be the same. This could be a terminal illness, loss of an immediate family member, or some other non-material loss. Divorce does not qualify although we recognize the effects can be damaging.”

Looking ahead, Hands That Help SoMoCo invites the community to participate in its next event scheduled for January. For more updates, supporters are encouraged to follow the organization on Facebook.

The organization also gave thanks to its supporters, donors, volunteers and attendees.

“Your help and support is greatly appreciated,” they stated.
