TRICKS AND TREATS

SALINAS — SPCA Monterey County is hosting its first Halloween Tricks and Treats event on Thursday, Oct. 30, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the SPCA Learning Center, located at 1002 Monterey-Salinas Highway in Salinas. Families and children are invited to enjoy treats, spooky decorations and meet adoptable pets. Costumes are encouraged but not required. The event offers a fun walk-through experience with opportunities to learn about the SPCA and celebrate the holiday season.


STREET SWEEPING

SAN LUCAS — The County of Monterey announced that a street sweeping project is scheduled to begin Friday, Oct. 31, for all county roads in San Lucas. The one-day project will use the County’s EV Sweeper to sweep roads from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The County of Monterey-Greenfield District will be performing the work, and there will be no impact to traffic.


FALL FESTIVAL

KING CITY — The King City Library is hosting its Fall Festival 2025 on Friday, Oct. 31. The event runs from 3 to 5 p.m. and features a variety of fun activities, including a scavenger hunt, crafts, carnival games and prizes. At 4 p.m., there will be a costume contest. The event is sponsored by Friends of the King City Library and is open to the community. Visitors are encouraged to let the library know if they need a Spanish or sign language interpreter by calling 831-386-6885. The library is located at 402 Broadway St. in King City.


BONUS BRIEF: TRUNK OR TREAT

KING CITY — King City Recreation Department will host its seventh annual Trunk or Treat event on Friday, Oct. 31, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds’ Expo Lawn. The event is free for children ages 2-12. Trunk or Treat is a safe, family-friendly event where businesses, organizations and community members decorate the trunks of their cars for Halloween and pass out candy. King City Police Department will also be providing free hot dogs again this year.
