SALINAS VALLEY — Salinas Regional Soccer Complex has announced a groundbreaking summer of elite youth soccer events, beginning with the city’s inaugural hosting of the Alianza Cup on Aug. 9-10, followed by NorCal Player Development Pool (PDP) sessions on Aug. 14, 21, 28, Sept. 25 and Oct. 23.
Alianza de Futbol has selected the Salinas Regional Soccer Complex as one of just eight facilities nationwide for its 2025 national tour—and notably, Salinas is the smallest host city by population. Recognized nationally for its role in identifying and nurturing top Latino soccer talent, Alianza’s decision marks a milestone for Salinas and a major endorsement of the Complex’s recent growth and impact.
“This underscores Salinas’ emergence as a premier location for soccer, providing unparalleled recreational and competitive opportunities for our youth and families,” said Jonathan De Anda, general manager of the Salinas Regional Soccer Complex.
The Aug. 9-10 tournament is expected to attract hundreds of players and scouts from across the country, offering a high-visibility platform for local and regional athletes. Among the most anticipated competitors is Salinas Soccer Feminil, a standout girls team that has won the Alianza Cup for the past two years and now has the chance to defend its title on home turf.
Then, on Aug. 14, 21, 28, Sept. 25 and Oct. 23, the Complex will host NorCal Premier Soccer’s Player Development Pool (PDP)—a selective training series for some of the region’s most promising young players. The PDP provides advanced coaching and serves as a key pipeline to state, regional, and national teams.
“These events reflect the heart of our mission—to create opportunity, promote excellence, and lift up local talent,” said De Anda. “We’re honored to support players chasing their dreams, whether it’s earning a college scholarship or playing professionally.”
Salinas Regional Soccer Complex is undergoing a major expansion, and once completed will become the largest facility of its kind between San Francisco and Los Angeles. Recent milestones include two lighted synthetic turf fields and a new parking area.
Still to come: seven additional natural grass fields, a field house with indoor soccer, a wellness center, cafeteria and more. Additional features will include basketball, pickleball and multi-use courts, sand courts for volleyball and soccer, playgrounds, a BMX pump track, two skate parks and picnic areas.
This expansion is designed to meet critical community needs by creating safe, inclusive spaces that foster physical and mental well-being, community engagement and long-term economic growth.
