SAN LUCAS — Monterey County Sheriff’s Office detectives have announced the arrest of 46-year-old Elvis Deo Sundar of San Lucas on multiple sexual assault-related charges, including rape.

According to officials, the investigation began on June 8 after deputies received a report from a victim alleging they had been sexually assaulted over a period of time by a known family member. Following the investigation, detectives arrested Sundar on June 16.

The Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Sundar is a member of the San Lucas Union Elementary School District Board.

“At this time, our investigation does not lead us to believe that any students from the San Lucas Union School District are victims,” stated the Sheriff’s Office in a news release Tuesday. “However, if you or someone you know believes they are a victim of sexual assault or any crime, we encourage you to contact the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office.”

Sundar has been booked into the Monterey County Jail on charges including rape by force or fear, sexual battery by restraint and other sex-related crimes. His bail has been set at $2 million.

The Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information related to the case to contact Detective Christina Scariot at 831-755-3811. Individuals can remain anonymous when providing information.
