OPERATION SANTA DONATIONS
KING CITY — The City of King is once again participating in Operation Santa, which is aiming to bring joy to more than 1,000 local children in need this year. City Hall at 212 S. Vanderhurst Ave. will have a donation box in the lobby to accept donations of new, unwrapped toys, blankets and jackets. TURKEY TROT
SALINAS — The festive Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot, presented by Montage Health, continues at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca on Thursday, Nov. 28, for a healthy, satisfying start to Thanksgiving Day feasts. All donations collected benefit the Food Bank for Monterey County. Visitors who make a donation between 7 and 11 a.m. that day will enjoy a run, jog or walk at their own pace on the 2.238-mile race circuit, where legendary drivers and riders have raced. The highlight of each lap will be standing atop the legendary Corkscrew for scenic views of Monterey Bay and the Salinas Valley before plunging down the signature turn’s six stories. Dogs are allowed and must remain on a leash. Reservations are not required, and donations will be accepted only onsite. Canned and non-perishable food items will also be accepted. SOLEDAD — With the rainy season approaching, the City of Soledad is providing sand and bags on Front Street for residents. While the sand and bags are free of charge, individuals will have to make their sand bags with their own shovels.
