KING CITY — King City’s seventh annual Trunk or Treat event brought Halloween spirit to life at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds Expo Lawn, with a record-breaking turnout of 1,769 children and adults.

Hosted by the King City Recreation Department, the free family event ran from 4:30 to 6 p.m. and featured decorated car trunks from local businesses, organizations and community members who handed out candy to excited trick-or-treaters.

The Oct. 31 event also included a lively costume contest, where children competed for fun prizes.

“This was our biggest event yet,” the department shared. “We loved seeing everyone’s creativity and smiles. We are so grateful to everyone who attended and to our generous sponsors and trunkers. We couldn’t have done it without you.”
