SALINAS VALLEY — Vista Verde Middle School in Greenfield recently hosted a community network meeting aimed at fostering a nurturing and safe environment for local youth, families and communities across South Monterey County.

The meeting, organized by Greenfield school resource officers in February, was attended by not only officers from Greenfield, Soledad and Gonzales police departments, but also counselors, therapists, social workers, parent liaisons and administrators from Greenfield and King City area schools.

“The room was a melting pot of individuals all united by a single goal — to serve and uplift our community,” stated Greenfield Police Department on social media Feb. 28.

The meeting featured presentations from a variety of organizations committed to making a difference in the lives of young people and their families. These organizations included the Silver Star Resource Center, Restorative Justice Partners Inc., Sun Street Centers, Monterey County Behavioral Health, Seneca Children’s Behavioral Health and Sierra Mental Wellness Group, along with representatives from the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office, including the truancy deputy district attorney, DA victim advocate and an advocate from the new Family Justice Center.

Greenfield Police called the gathering a “testament to the power of collaboration.”

“By coming together, sharing resources and learning from one another, we can undoubtedly achieve more than we ever could alone,” police said. “It’s through these partnerships that we can provide a comprehensive network of support for our youth, ensuring they have the tools and resources they need to thrive.”

Moving forward, the department plans to continue nurturing these partnerships and work hand-in-hand for the betterment of the community.

“We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who participated and contributed to making this meeting not just a success, but a stepping stone toward a brighter future for South Monterey County,” police said.

Anyone looking for support or interested in getting involved can contact the organizations above or Greenfield Police Department at 831-674-5111.
