OUTDOOR PROGRAMS
GREENFIELD — A public input meeting to hear ideas about educational and recreational outdoor programs in Greenfield is planned for Aug. 26 at 5:30 p.m. at the Greenfield Library, 315 El Camino Real. The city is applying for a state grant from the Outdoor Equity Grants Program, which supports outdoor and natural area trips for day or overnight use, such as trips to state or national parks, beaches, lakes, rivers and forests. The grant also supports educational activities and events locally, as well as trips to locations that promote understanding and exposure to the outdoors, such as the Monterey Bay Aquarium or whale watching. ADOBE FUNDRAISER
SAN MIGUEL — Friends of the Adobes is hosting a fundraising Barbecue and Living Days of History on Saturday, Aug. 28, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Historic Rios-Caledonia Adobe, 700 Mission St., in San Miguel. Civil War re-enactors will feature displays and presentations in costume of the activities of Company C in August of 1864. The museum and the Wally Ohles Research Library will be open. NEW DIRECTOR
CENTRAL COAST — After eight years on the Catholic Charities Diocese of Monterey Board of Directors and three years as the executive director, Ana Ventura Phares will be retiring at the end of August. The board also announced that Angela Di Novella has been appointed to the position of executive director effective Sept. 1. Di Novella, who was born and raised in Venezuela, has most recently served as the nonprofit’s family support services director and development director. She has held leadership positions for nine years at Catholic Charities, which serves the communities in Santa Cruz, San Benito, Monterey and San Luis Obispo counties.

GREENFIELD — Greenfield Union School District will host a diaper giveaway on Thursday, Aug. 26, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., at 801 Walnut Ave., near the back entrance to Mary Chapa Academy. The event will be for Greenfield residents only, and parents will be asked to show identification, proof of address and child ID, such as a birth certificate or doctor record. Sizes 1-6 will be available.
