MONTEREY COUNTY — Nearly all ballots have been counted in the Nov. 3 general election as of Tuesday, announced Monterey County Elections, which is in the final stretch of the canvass period.
“My intention is to certify the results of the General Election by Monday, Nov. 23,” said Claudio Valenzuela, the county’s registrar of voters.
As of Tuesday’s latest results, the county has processed 165,888 ballots, representing an 80.17% voter turnout so far.
The deadline to receive vote-by-mail ballots that have been postmarked by Election Day is Friday, Nov. 20, which is also the cutoff point for voters to “cure” their signatures. Voters with mismatched or missing signatures have already been contacted by the elections department, Valenzuela said.
This year’s general election will determine the outcome of many South Monterey County races for school boards and city councils, as well as decide the fate of local measures for school bonds and city taxes.
