KING CITY — City of King has scheduled a virtual public workshop Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 6 p.m. to obtain community input regarding the proposed Downtown Plaza Park project.
The Downtown Plaza Park is proposed at the vacant property on the northeast corner of Broadway Street and Vanderhurst Avenue. It will feature seating areas, grass and brick areas, a stage and trellis structure for downtown entertainment, interactive children’s art structures, and trees and landscaping.
The existing historical building at 110 Vanderhurst Ave. will be renovated and converted to a new Visitor and History Center. The project is intended to help revitalize the downtown area and provide a place for the public to eat, play, enjoy events and relax while visiting the downtown.
The property has been acquired by the City of King, design is underway and grants are being pursued to fund construction. The design of the project is based on a number of public workshops and feedback that has been provided.
“The purpose of this workshop will be to update the community on the project planning and request input on some important final items under design, such as a mural and children’s interactive art pieces,” according to City Manager Steve Adams in a news release. “Participation will also help the City to compete for a state grant to fund the project construction. Therefore, everyone is invited and encouraged to participate.”
