KING CITY — A drive-by shooting injured a 23-year-old King City man Monday morning in the area of San Antonio Drive and Amherst Drive, briefly placing nearby King City High School on lockdown.

King City Police responded to reports of two vehicles possibly shooting at each other at about 8 a.m. on May 22 and found evidence at the scene to support the claims. The high school, less than a half-mile away, was placed on lockdown as a precaution. During that time, Mee Memorial Hospital contacted police regarding a shooting victim who had arrived at the hospital.

The adult male, who was not identified, told police that he was driving north on San Antonio Drive when he heard several gunshots and realized he had been shot in both legs. He then drove himself to the hospital. Police said the victim was “unable to provide any further information” and was in stable condition.

Police believe a white sedan, possibly a Nissan, was involved in the shooting. Anyone with further information about this case is encouraged to call the King City Police Department WeTip line at 1-800-78-CRIME.
