KING CITY — A walking tour of historic Highway 101 in downtown King City is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 19, at 1 p.m.

Led by local historians John and Karen Jernigan, the walk will begin at the new King City Visitor and History Center at 110 N. Vanderhurst Ave. in the Downtown Plaza.

The event is being done in cooperation with the King City CiclovĂa, an outdoor event where Broadway will be closed to vehicles encouraging walkers, cyclists, runners and other non-motorized transportation between noon and 4 p.m.

Participants are invited to come at noon to enjoy food vendors, booths and music before the historic walk.

The walk is expected to last 60 to 75 minutes and covers about four blocks.

If there is enough interest, a walking tour of the King City Cemetery will be planned for Saturday, Oct. 25, at 11 a.m. This will be ahead of the town celebration for Day of the Dead and All Saint’s Day, times when cultures honor their ancestors. The tour features stories of people whose lives have shaped the town.

Group size is limited so reservations are required. For more information, contact the Jernigans at 831-594 3740 by phone or text or by email at ka***************@***il.com. In case of rain, both events will be rescheduled.
