KING CITY — The King City Lady Mustangs played well at home Sept. 8 to the Salinas Cowboys but were beaten at home, 21-25, 16-25 and 20-25, to fall to 0-3 in league play. King City is 5-5 overall.
“We came out really fired up in the first game,” said King City head coach Christine Luna. “We had a six-point advantage halfway through the first game and we got to 20 points first but we could not finish the game. We were very competitive in the match and we have been so close to a lot of these teams and we are not satisfied yet. We are still hungry and continuing to push these teams.”
Grace Shepherd had 27 kills and 11 digs in the match and Nancy Andrade has six kills, nine digs, and served an ace. Kayla Silva and Ivy Hearne combined for 28 assists and added 13 digs. Alexia Head and Elena Vasquez combined for 15 digs.
King City hosted Christopher High School of Gilroy yesterday in the Mustang Gym and will play tomorrow in Hollister against San Benito.
