SALINAS VALLEY — In volleyball games played last week in the Mission Division of the Pacific Coast Athletic League, Gonzales High improved to 4-2 and 7-6 overall.

The Spartans claimed a 3-0 win over Greenfield on the road and a 3-0 win over Watsonville at home.

Against Greenfield, Ava Mireles led the Spartans with 10 kills and 13 service aces. Priscilla Hurtado added seven kills and had four service aces, and Alitzel Mauro-Perez led the team with 27 assists and added eight service aces.

Gonzales played at Alisal on Monday and will compete at Soledad on Wednesday night.

Greenfield completed the week with a 3-1 setback to Everett Alvarez in Salinas.

The Bruins (5-12 overall, 2-5 in Mission) played on Monday in Watsonville and will compete Wednesday at Alisal before heading to the Harbor Tournament beginning Friday.

Soledad split their games last week, losing by a 3-0 score at Watsonville and defeating visiting Alisal 3-1.

The Aztecs had a game at Stevenson on Monday and will host Gonzales on Wednesday.

King City is 2-4 in the Gabilan Division and 7-7 overall after losses last week to Carmel and Salinas.

In the 3-1 loss at home against Carmel, Avery Munoz had 11 kills and Lexanna Novoa had a team-high 35 digs.

The Mustangs played the host Pacific Coast Breakers on Monday and will travel to Salinas on Wednesday for a contest against Palma.
