Transportation Agency for Monterey County (TAMC)

MONTEREY COUNTY — Transportation Agency for Monterey County (TAMC) is seeking public input on the agency’s draft “Measure X Senior and Disabled Transportation Needs Assessment and Program Guidelines.”

The needs assessment is being conducted through Aug. 31 to review the existing transportation services for seniors and persons with disabilities in the county to determine the most effective ways to spend Measure X funding for the next grant cycles of the Senior and Disabled Transportation Program.

Approximately 18% of Monterey County’s population currently qualifies for senior and/or disabled transportation services, and that figure is expected to increase in the coming years.

Measure X allocates $15 million over 30 years, which is approximately $500,000 per year, for this program designed to meet this need by increasing transportation services for seniors and persons with disabilities to support their ability to live independently in their homes and communities.

The needs assessment will:

  1. Identify existing transportation services for seniors and persons with disabilities,
  2. Determine gaps in service, potential enhancements, and improved coordination; and
  3. Identify potential changes to the Program application to better meet the needs of Monterey County’s seniors and disabled residents.

TAMC will use the results of the assessment to help inform the selection and scoring process for the scoring criteria for the third grant cycle of the program.
