KING CITY — King City is inviting residents and visitors to participate in its third annual Ciclovía, set to take place on Sunday, Oct. 19, from noon to 4 p.m.
The event will temporarily close Broadway Street to vehicle traffic in the downtown area, from First Street to San Lorenzo Avenue, creating a safe and open space for walkers, cyclists, runners and other non-motorized transportation enthusiasts.
This community celebration is part of the City’s broader Blue Zones Project initiative, aimed at fostering healthier, happier and more connected lives.
Attendees can enjoy a variety of activities, entertainment and free Blue Zones-approved food items. The event also features a bicycle raffle with prizes, and information booths highlighting local community and social services — all designed to support overall well-being.
Thirty-five community and social service agencies will be on hand, offering resources, giveaway items and assistance to attendees. Highlights of the day include a bike rodeo, children’s games, inflatable obstacle courses, bike repair stations and a historical walking tour of downtown King City.
In addition, the first 500 families to arrive will receive a complimentary food bag courtesy of the Food Bank for Monterey County.
The Downtown Plaza stage will host a lively entertainment lineup, including performances by Paradise Road at noon, Kent Robinson at 1:15 p.m., Herencia Humilde at 2:30 p.m. and a raffle drawing at 3:30 p.m.
“The City would like to express its appreciation to our generous sponsors who have made this event possible, including the Transportation Agency for Monterey County, King City Community Power, Mechanics Bank, Rio Farms, Mee Memorial Healthcare System, Pilot Energy, Ecology Action, King City Veterinary Clinic, Vertis, 3CE and A&G Pumping,” stated City Manager Steve Adams.
The Blue Zones Project is a wellness initiative dedicated to helping individuals live longer, healthier and more fulfilling lives. Residents are encouraged to participate in this vibrant community celebration.
