
KING CITY — Alizah Carrillo earned the pitching win as the King City softball team defeated the visiting North Monterey County Condors 9-3 on March 20.
Carrillo finished the game with six strikeouts.
The Mustangs banged out three doubles against the Condors by Carrillo, Avery Munoz and Amity Hearne. King City (3-3) finished with 18 hits in the game.
On March 21, the Mustangs lost 19-15 against the visiting Carmel Padres. Carrillo began the game at pitcher but just pitched innings. At lone point, King City trailed 12-3.
Janesa Lopez and Carrillo had three hits apiece, while Hearne, Raylie Moore, Katia Slama and Crystal Paramo had two hits each, respectively.
King City began the week with a 13-3 win at Gonzales in a non-league game. Carrillo earned the complete game win as pitcher, giving up three hits and striking out seven.
Lopez, Hearne, Munoz, Moore and Jocelyn Romero hit doubles. Moore added a triple for her second extra base hit.
King City played Tuesday at Robert Louis Stevenson, after press deadlines, and next will travel to Atascadero on Thursday and to Pajaro Valley in Watsonville on Saturday.
Gonzales (0-4) played at Santa Catalina in Monterey last Friday, the results of which were not available. Soledad fell to 4-2 overall after a 6-1 setback against Pacific Grove on Thursday in a road game. Greenfield (1-7) begins league play on Wednesday against Pajaro Valley.
