KING CITY — King City successfully petitioned for the Central Coast Section (CCS) playoffs after finishing 15-11 overall and 10-6 in the Mission Division at fourth place.

The Lady Mustangs will play against Sequoia (Redwood City) at home in the CCS D-V playoffs on Saturday, May 24, at 10 a.m.

Last week against Alisal at Senior Night, the game was tied 2-2 after seven innings. The Trojans struck for six runs to defeat the Mustangs, 8-2. King City had 10 hits in the contest, including three hits by Avery Munoz.

In the final game of the season, King City was shut out 11-0 on the road by Pacific Grove. Breaker pitcher Alex Giammanco threw a complete game one-hit shutout. Alizah Carrillo took the loss on the mound for the Mustangs.

Amity Hearne had the only King City hit against Giammanco, who struck out eight Mustang batters.
