KING CITY — King City Mustangs’ softball team played three games last week, winning 11-10 on the road against Robert Louis Stevenson, falling 9-2 at Atascadero in a non-league game and ending the week with a 17-0 shutout of Pajaro Valley.
At Pebble Beach against Stevenson, the Lady Mustangs had an 11-3 advantage, but the Pirates fought back to make a game of it.
King City’s Alizah Carrillo allowed eight hits to earn the pitching victory. Krystal Paramo led the Mustangs with three hits, while Amity Hearne, Raylie Moore and Avery Munoz had two hits apiece. Katia Slama had one hit and three runs batted in.

At Atascadero, King City took a 2-0 first-inning lead before the Greyhounds took control of the game.
Carrillo took the loss and allowed seven hits. Finishing with base hits for King City were: Paramo (two runs batted in), Hearne, Moore, Carrillo, Munoz, Jocelyn Romero and Zireta Casimiro.
Last Friday in Watsonville, the Mustangs scored 17 runs off of 13 hits against host Pajaro Valley Grizzlies. Alizah Carrillo did not allow a hit or run and struck out 12 batters. Offensively, Carrillo, Munoz, Hearne, Romero, Slama, Casimiro and Paramo contributed with hits.
King City played Tuesday in Soledad against the Aztecs, will host Rancho San Juan on Thursday and then will be on the road Saturday for a game with Santa Cruz High.
South County teams celebrate league wins
Soledad beat Stevenson last Thursday by a 7-5 score to improve to 2-1 in the Mission Division and are 5-2 overall.
The Aztecs travel to Salinas to play the Alisal Trojans on Thursday afternoon.
Greenfield Bruins’ softball team swept a road and home series against Pajaro Valley last week to begin the Cypress Division openers at 2-0, improving to 3-7 overall.
Last Wednesday, March 26, in Watsonville, the Lady Bruins beat the host Grizzlies, 17-0.
Greenfield’s Chloe Zavala was the winning pitcher and finished with eight strikeouts. Brizea Rojas hit three doubles in the game and had two runs batted in, and Karina Garcia hit a triple with three RBIs.
At home last Friday, March 28, Zavala had 11 strikeouts in the 16-0 shutout of the Grizzlies. Zavala was a force at hitter with a double and a triple.
Aniah Helm led Greenfield with three hits, including a double. Krystal Nunez had two doubles, while Nathalie Soto, Rojas and Aaliyah Pedraza had two hits apiece.
Greenfield will host the Anzar Hawks on Wednesday and finish the week at home against Gonzales.
The Spartans lost a non-league game at home to Robert Louis Stevenson by a 16-11 score on March 24. Then, on Friday in the Cypress Division opener, Gonzales won 16-1 to host Seaside.
Gonzales’ Viviana Ruacho pitched five innings and allowed one run, finishing with four strikeouts. Angelina Navarro had four hits, including a double and a homerun, and Maryanne Camarena added two base hits.
Gonzales plays Wednesday in Watsonville against St. Francis, followed by the road game with Greenfield.
