GREENFIELD — SNIP (Spay Neuter Imperative Project) identified a critical need for dog and cat food in South Monterey County and is mobilizing urgent support to address it.

On Nov. 22, SNIP will coordinate the collection of a truckload of dog food from Pet Food Express and a truckload of cat food from Petco to ensure local families experiencing food insecurity can continue caring for their pets.

In addition to food distribution, SNIP will host its monthly double spay/neuter clinic in Greenfield on Monday, Nov. 24. The morning clinic will be sponsored by a private donor, while the afternoon session will assist 40 feral cats, thanks to the sponsorship of the Monterey County Board of Supervisors.

“This initiative underscores SNIP’s commitment to animal welfare and community support,” according to a news release.

As part of this event, SNIP will also provide Buddy’s Biscuits and educational books for children, including “Tales That Teach” and “Carmel Pup” books, to make Thanksgiving a little brighter for both pets and the families who cherish them.

The Nov. 24 clinic will be held at the Cultural Arts Center, located at 215 El Camino Real in Greenfield, next to Esperanza Market, starting at 8 a.m. County Supervisor Chris Lopez will be in attendance, representing his district and highlighting the importance of community collaboration.

“SNIP is grateful to all sponsors and donors, including our local rescue partner, OurNeighborhood Pet Project, for their continuous support and for providing parking and restroom facilities during these vital events,” stated the organization in the release. “Together, we are making a significant impact in the lives of pets and families in need this holiday season.”

SNIP has also announced the continuation of the MC Gives matching program for a third consecutive year through the Community Foundation of Monterey. From Nov. 13 to Dec. 31, donations made to SNIP through MC Gives will be matched. To contribute, visit SNIP’s MC Gives portal.
