KING CITY — A sixth person has been arrested in connection with the murder investigation of 19-year-old Charles Adolfo Jose, who was shot and killed Jan. 13 outside his residence in Greenfield.

Following a search warrant operation involving multiple law enforcement agencies last Thursday at four different locations, 22-year-old Gustavo Garcia of King City was taken into custody on various charges that include unlawful possession of a firearm, unregistered firearm with ammunition, child endangerment and gang enhancements.

Garcia’s arrest comes exactly 10 weeks after five other people were arrested in late January for the gang-related murder investigation, which in part led to last week’s search warrant operation.

At that time, Greenfield Police Chief Denise Oglesby said there was “no relationship other than gang rivals” between Jose and the suspects, who are known gang members from King City.

“Through the ongoing investigation and information recovered from the previous search warrants regarding the murder of Charles Jose, they led to the authoring and service of four additional search warrants,” police said in a news release.

Led by the South County Major Crimes Investigations Unit, search warrants were served April 4 at three locations in King City; 200 block of S. Vanderhurst Avenue, 600 block of Bishop Street and 100 block of River Drive, where Garcia was arrested. An additional search warrant was served in the 400 block of Reservation Road in Marina.

The Major Crimes Unit received assistance from several other agencies, including Monterey County Sheriff’s Office, Monterey County District Attorney’s Office, Monterey Peninsula Regional Special Response Team, Peninsula Regional Violence and Narcotics Team, California Department of Justice Bureau of Firearms, U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, California Highway Patrol Aviation Support Unit and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation Investigative Services Unit.

Anyone with further information is asked to contact Det. Leo Guzman at 831-888-7168 or Det. Joshue Partida at 831-386-5991 of the Major Crimes Unit, which is a collaboration of the Greenfield and King City police departments.
