KING CITY — Families from across the King City Union School District gathered April 30 at King City Arts Magnet School to celebrate Día del Niño (Children’s Day) with an afternoon of music, games and community activities.

Students and staff from Chalone Peaks Middle School, Del Rey Elementary School and Santa Lucia Elementary School joined the host campus for the event, which featured food, popsicles, entertainment and student showcases.

Organizers said the celebration highlighted the importance of children while bringing families together in a festive, welcoming setting.

“We would like to thank each and every one of you who joined us at Día del Niño. We hope you and your families had a great time!” the district said in a statement.

King City Fire Department and Monterey County Sheriff’s Office also participated, engaging with families and supporting activities throughout the afternoon.

“Monterey County Sheriff’s Office connected with families, shared resources and briefly joined in on some dancing! We extend our gratitude to Toys for Tots and community donations for making these grand prizes possible,” the agency said.

With participation from multiple schools and community partners, the annual event reflected a districtwide effort to create a fun, inclusive space for students and their families.
