ART WORKSHOPS
KING CITY — Sol Treasures in King City is hosting a series of Día de los Muertos events this fall. On Friday, Sept. 19, from 4 to 6 p.m., it will host a free Beading Workshop with Yesenia Guerrero, suitable for all ages. Participants need to preregister by calling 831-386-1381. In addition, on Sept. 20 and 21, as well as Oct. 4 and 5, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., there will be a Create Your Own Alebrije Workshop with Pilar Mendoza, also free and open to all ages. Preregistration is required for this event as well. Both workshops will be held at 519 Broadway St. in King City, and aim to celebrate and honor Día de los Muertos through creative activities.
RECOVERY RUN
MARINA — Sun Street Centers will host its Annual Recovery Run on Saturday, Sept. 20, at the Veterans Administration in Marina. The family-friendly event kicks off with registration at 7:30 a.m., with the 5K and 2-mile run/walk starting at 9 a.m., passing through parts of California State University, Monterey Bay. The event aims to raise awareness about Substance Use Disorder, promote healthy living and support long-term recovery efforts. It will feature live music, breakfast, family activities and resource booths from local health organizations. This year’s honoree is Danny Dedmon, recognized for his inspiring story of hope and perseverance. Funds raised will support treatment, recovery and prevention services. TRACTOR SUPPLY OPENS
SOLEDAD — City of Soledad will celebrate the grand opening of Monterey County’s first Tractor Supply at 447 Nestles Road on Saturday, Sept. 20, at 11 a.m., following a soft opening that was held Sept. 13. The store offers farm and ranch supplies, tools, hardware, clothing, pet food and outdoor products, supporting local farming and outdoor lifestyles. The new Soledad location is expected to create 23 jobs and boost local economic growth. City officials and the Soledad Chamber of Commerce are working together with Tractor Supply to make the event a memorable community celebration.
