BLADE OVERLAY PROJECT

JOLON — County of Monterey has announced that the Blade Overlay Project began on Sept. 16 on Jolon Road, and may affect Argyle Road and Mission Road. The project will take about six weeks and is expected to be complete by Oct. 30. The work to be done includes sweeping and cleaning the road, spraying emulsion oil, delivering and dumping asphalt, spreading asphalt with a motor grader and compacting asphalt with a rubber tire roller. Work will occur during the day from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Traffic control measures, such as a pilot car, flagger and one lane closure, will be implemented during this time. “Monterey County will make every effort to keep the community updated on the progress of the work and the impacts to traffic,” stated the County, which will be performing the work.


NEW FIRE TRUCK

GONZALES — Gonzales Fire Department is inviting the community to attend a dedication ceremony for its newest fire engine on Thursday, Sept. 18, at 3:30 p.m. The event will be held at 325 Center St. in Gonzales. The department will be honoring the new addition to its fleet, which was funded by the County of Monterey and Measure K. Community members are encouraged to attend, view the fire truck and show support for the local firefighters.


POW/MIA CEREMONY 

SOLEDAD — Soledad Police Department, along with local veterans, community members and city officials, will host a POW/MIA Flag Ceremony to honor U.S. military personnel who were taken prisoner of war or remain missing in action. The public event will take place on Friday, Sept. 19, at 8 a.m. at the City Hall Flagpole, located at 248 Main St.


BONUS BRIEF: FINAL CONCERT

KING CITY — King City’s summer concert series at the Downtown Plaza will conclude this Friday, Sept. 19, from 6 to 8 p.m., with Paradise Road. Held on the new plaza located at Broadway Street and Vanderhurst Avenue, the free event welcomes community members to enjoy music in the heart of downtown.
