PET CLINIC

GONZALES — A low-cost vaccination clinic for all dogs and puppies is set for Wednesday, Nov. 13, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in front of the Gonzales Police Department at 109 Fourth St. No appointments are needed. Vaccines and microchips are being provided and administered by the SPCA Monterey County.


WRITERS EVENT

SEASIDE — Cal State Monterey Bay’s Humanities and Communications department’s Writers From the Edge series kicks off with the fall semester event “The Truth Between Us,” featuring California poets Chris Siders, Norman Antonio Zelaya, Matt Sedillo and Tony Wallin-Sato. This reading will also include original work from Creative Writing and Social Action students followed by a Q&A session moderated by HCOM professor and organizer Alie Jones. This annual series provides the campus and community with an opportunity to hear some of the best young, contemporary authors and poets, both known and emerging. The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place Thursday, Nov. 14, from 6 to 8 p.m. at CSUMB’s World Theater, Building 28, 5260 Sixth Ave., in Seaside. BONUS BRIEF: OPEN HOUSE

SALINAS — Monterey County Probation Department, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation and GEO Reentry Services will host an open house to mark 15 years of providing reentry services designed to reduce criminal risk to individuals on probation or parole. The event will be held Wednesday, Nov. 13, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 128 Sun St., Suite 201. At the open house, guests can tour the facility, learn more about programs and services delivered, and meet with current and former participants.
