YOUTH SUMMIT

GREENFIELD — Greenfield Youth Council, in partnership with Gonzales and Soledad youth councils, is hosting the second annual South County Youth Summit (SCYS) on Saturday, May 24, at Greenfield High School. Under the theme “Planting the Future,” the youth-led event aims to empower young people, amplify their voices and promote civic engagement across South Monterey County. Building on last year’s success with about 90 participants, this year’s summit expects 120-150 attendees. The day will feature interactive workshops on leadership and advocacy, a resource fair, raffle prizes, a free lunch and a keynote speech by Cynthia Moreno, press secretary for Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas. Moreno will share her inspiring journey from growing up in a small agricultural town to pursuing her professional goals. Open to eighth to 12th graders from Greenfield, Gonzales, Soledad and surrounding areas, the event is free. Registration is encouraged in advance. The summit provides valuable resources on academics, employment and mental health, all tailored to youth voices. For more information and to register, visit tinyurl.com/SCYS25.
