FUEL REDUCTION BURN

GONZALES — On Wednesday, June 28, the City of Gonzales Public Works Department in cooperation with the Gonzales Fire Department will be conducting a fuel reduction burn at the City’s wastewater treatment plant, located on Short Road next to the Salinas River outside of Gonzales. The goal of this controlled burn will be to eliminate fire fuels that have the potential to damage infrastructure should an uncontrolled wildfire happen during the fire season. The burn will begin around 7 a.m. and continue throughout the day. Smoke will be visible for most of the morning and into the afternoon. Fire crews will be positioned on site to ensure the burn does not escape the containment area.


BLOCK PARTY

KING CITY — King City Police Department has planned a District 3 Block Party on Wednesday, June 28, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., at the 500 block of Collins Street. There will be music, food, bounce houses, entertainment and more. The community can also meet their local councilmember, police officers and neighbors.


COFFEE AND CONVERSATION

SOLEDAD — City of Soledad and El Pajaro Community Development Corporation are inviting local businesses for coffee and conversation with the Community and Economic Development team on Thursday, June 29, at 8 a.m. in the Council Chambers at Soledad City Hall, 248 Main St. There will be a presentation from Hearst Television on using basic internet tools to expand business profiles; building and maintaining online directories; social media; and email marketing. BONUS BRIEF: PRODUCE DISTRIBUTIONS

SALINAS VALLEY — Food Bank for Monterey County will have a produce distribution on Thursday, June 29, from 9 to 10 a.m., at 235 Main St. in Soledad. Another produce distribution will take place on Friday, June 30, from 9 to 10 a.m. at 615 El Camino Real in Greenfield. Community members are reminded to bring a cart to carry the items.
