SALINAS VALLEY — National Weather Service has issued flash flood warnings for the River, Carmel and Dolan fire burn scars due to heavy rain in the area, calling it a “life-threatening situation.” Excessive rainfall will result in debris flow moving through the burn areas, and some drainage basins will be impacted. Residents in those areas were advised to evacuate yesterday, and anyone who observes movement of soils should move to higher ground immediately. The stormy weather, which is expected to last through Thursday, has also caused some power outages and road closures. Visit co.monterey.ca.us/winterstorm for more.
