TRUTH ACT

SALINAS — Monterey County Board of Supervisors will hold a TRUTH Act presentation on Tuesday, Jan. 27, at 1:30 p.m. in its Chambers at 168 W. Alisal St. in Salinas. The presentation is required under California’s TRUTH Act when local law enforcement has provided U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement access to individuals during the previous year. Monterey County Sheriff’s Office will present data on ICE access and the board will receive public comment. The meeting will be open to the public, televised on Comcast Channel 28 and streamed online. Spanish interpretation will be available.


WHISTLEMANIA EVENT

KING CITY — King City’s first Whistlemania event, organized by the Lockwood PerSisters with assistance from Indivisible Monterey, will take place at County Supervisor Chris Lopez’s office, 1011 Broadway, on Wednesday, Jan. 28, from 3 to 5 p.m. The event, which is free and open to all, gathers volunteers to assemble whistle kits for local community members to alert their neighbors when ICE is nearby. TRANSPORTATION PLAN

MONTEREY COUNTY — Transportation Agency for Monterey County (TAMC) has released its Draft 2026 Regional Transportation Plan (RTP) for public review. The 24-year plan outlines goals, policies, funding estimates and priority projects to address Monterey County’s long-term transportation needs and is the first step toward securing federal and state funding for local projects. Residents can submit written comments by Jan. 31 to Ariadne Sambrano, Transportation Planner, at 55B Plaza Circle, Salinas, CA 93901. TAMC will also hold a public hearing on Jan. 28 at 9 a.m. during its Board of Directors meeting at the Monterey County Government Center, 1441 Schilling Place, in Salinas.
