DISASTER ASSISTANCE
KING CITY — The FEMA Mobile Disaster Assistance Registration Intake Center trailer will be in King City and San Ardo this week to offer disaster assistance for those impacted by winter storms. With hours of operation from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, the FEMA trailer will be at the King City Library, 402 Broadway St., through Feb. 10 before going to the San Ardo Library, 62350 College St., on Feb. 11. The trailer, which was stationed in Chualar, Gonzales, Arroyo Seco and Greenfield last week, is staffed by FEMA personnel to assist with registration and answer questions about disaster assistance programs, which include financial and direct services. HOMELESS RESPONSE
SOLEDAD — A Community Input Session on Homeless Response is planned for Wednesday, Feb. 8, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Soledad Community Center, 560 Walker Drive, in Soledad. The City of Soledad is working with the Continuum of Care (the Coalition of Homeless Services Providers) in building a local strategic plan to reduce homelessness, based on the regional 5 Year Lead Me Home Plan. LGBTQ WORKSHOPS
MONTEREY COUNTY — Monterey County Civil Rights Office would like to hear from local residents about the creation of a Monterey County LGBTQ+ commission. Four community workshops will be held in February to invite public comment and conversation on creating such a commission. Two workshops will take place on Feb. 9 (8-10 a.m. and 6-8 p.m. in person at Marina Library) and two on Feb. 22 (9-11 a.m. and 6-8 p.m. via Zoom). All interested community members are welcome to attend the sessions, which will include Spanish and ASL interpretation. Registration is strongly recommended at bit.ly/3VFHigY.
