STAMPEDE RETURNS

KING CITY — King City Stampede will return this weekend, Feb. 24-25, at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds in King City. This two-day, action-packed Pro Rodeo serves as a fundraiser for Salinas Valley Fair Heritage Foundation and is produced by Lone Oak Western Productions LLC. The rodeo will present traditional events like bull riding, barrel racing, saddle bronc riding and more, in addition to food vendors and boutique shopping. ADOPTION EVENT

SALINAS — Adopt a lifetime of love during SPCA Monterey County’s Adoption Event this weekend, Feb. 24-26. During the event, adopters can “pick their price” on all adoptable dogs, cats, puppies, kittens, roosters, red-eared sliders, doves, pigeons, rabbits, rats, guinea pigs, hamsters and mice in the shelter. SPCA Monterey County is located at 1002 Monterey-Salinas Highway, across from WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Adoption hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. POLICE POZOLE

KING CITY — King City Police Department will host Pozole with the Police on Monday, Feb. 27, from 4 to 5 p.m. at La Patrona Restaurant and Cafe. The community is invited to stop by the restaurant at 103 Bassett St. to meet with local officers and enjoy free pozole, while supplies last.
