LEGISLATIVE WORKSHOP

MONTEREY COUNTY — The County of Monterey’s annual Legislative Workshop is set for Friday, Feb. 2, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The community is invited to attend in person or online to find out more about the County’s legislative priorities for 2024. The County’s Legislative Program works year-round to ensure local needs and programs get the ear and support of state and federal legislators. This annual meeting brings the Board of Supervisors and state and federal elected officials together to go over County priorities for the year and how they can work together to accomplish them. The County’s 2024 Policy Priorities will be presented and there will be remarks from state and federal legislators, County leaders and departments whose projects are part of the priority list. The meeting will be held at the County of Monterey Government Center, 168 W. Alisal St., in Salinas, will be available to the public via by Zoom (Webinar ID: 224 397 747) and will be streamed on the County Facebook and YouTube pages.


WINE ’N WAG

SOLEDAD — CRU Winery and South County Animal Rescue (SCAR) have teamed up for an adoption event called Wine ’n Wag on Sunday, Feb. 4, from 12 to 4 p.m. at the winery’s SLH Tasting Room, 37500 Foothill Road, in Soledad. Attendees who adopt a new pet or make a $50 donation to SCAR can receive two complimentary tastings and 10% off bottle purchases. Special guest will be SCAR founder and local author Lucy Jensen, who will showcase her newest book release, “The South Lookout, Our Aldeburgh Childhoods.”


MONTHLY LUNCHEON

KING CITY — Southern Monterey County Republican Women Federated will be hosting its monthly luncheon meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 6, at 11:30 a.m. at King Kora Restaurant, 611 Canal St., in King City. Guest speakers will be Phillip Nickerson, candidate for City Council in Soledad, and Tony Virrueta, Republican candidate for State Senate in the 17th District. BONUS BRIEF: CHAIR YOGA

GONZALES — City of Gonzales will be kicking off Chair Yoga on Saturday, Feb. 3, at the Vosti Center from 9 to 10 a.m. for free. Join the City for an hour of exercise, while also getting to participate in a raffle. There will also be a guest speaker from Alliance on Aging with a short presentation on the benefits of incorporating chair yoga.
